MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – A family of five escaped their burning home early Thursday morning in Memphis.

The house caught fire a little after 2 a.m. in the 3300 block of Burgess Drive near Tchulahoma Road.

A couple and three boys—ages 13, 9, and 11 months—were able to get out.

"The lights kept on flickering on and off. I went in there to get my mama, she was just hopping out of the shower," said 13-year-old Jermaine Livingston. "She went outside and said everybody get out, cause someone was knocking on the door saying, 'Y'all need to get out there's a fire.' "

Investigators say a faulty utility meter on the exterior of the home is where the fire began but fortunately there are no injuries

The family is getting help from the Red Cross.
