JULIA'S FORECAST: Warm & windy with rain/storms before the weekend

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Good morning!

It's a much warmer start to our day, and our afternoon temps will be pleasant in the low 70s. However, we do have some other weather issues to deal with. First of all, the winds will be rather gusty today. Coming out of the south, winds will generally be 15-25mph. In the Delta, gusts could be higher. In fact, the Delta is under a Wind Advisory from 12-9pm today. It's possible that some gusts could cause downed tree branches and damage.

While much of the daytime hours will  be dry, the threat for rain and storms increases as we head into the late afternoon and evening. Showers and thunder will be spotty to scattered during the overnight, and some storms could potentially be severe.

Heading through much of Friday we'll see spotty showers through the course of the day along with even warmer temperatures near 80! However, another round of rain and storms is expected as we head into Friday night. This time, there is a greater threat for severe thunderstorms. The greatest issue will be strong winds, along with the potential for hail.

Thankfully, much of the activity will be ending by the time we wake up on Saturday. We'll have increasing sunshine through the afternoon and highs in the mid 70s!
