3 injured in early morning crash on Truman

A bad crash on the Truman Parkway Thursday morning shut down one lane and several ramps for hours.

It happened around 8 a.m. on the Truman Parkway northbound between DeRenne and Eisenhower. Police say a Honda traveling north may have been experiencing some mechanical problems and was trying to pull off to the side of the road, when a Lincoln Navigator getting onto the Truman from Eisenhower, collided with the Honda, spinning out and blocking traffic.

An adult and two children in the Honda were transported to the hospital. Police say they did not have their seat belts on.

"Obviously it's just be aware because sometimes you'll find yourself in this kind of situation where one person is trying to get off and another person is trying to get on and not necessarily looking for each other. Those kind of things happen and that's why we call them accidents. But, the more alert we are, the less this will happen," said Julian Miller, spokesman for SCMPD.

All lanes and ramps re-opened to traffic at 10:50 a.m.

The crash remains under investigation.
