Police said four employees at a fast food restaurant inside the LSU Student Union were arrested Wednesday for allegedly overcharging cards issued to students and pocketing the difference.

The LSU Police Department reported the following arrests:

Cassandra Bell, 31

Bertrand Brown, 34

Constance Brown, 31

Danielle Casey, 23

Jeannine Rooks, 34

All four are charged with felony theft (over $1,500). They were booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

Capt. Cory Lalonde with LSUPD said the suspects worked at the McDonald's in the student union. He added the investigation began in October 2013 after a worker in LSU Auxiliary Services provided information to detectives about thefts to the Tiger Cards that students use.

"Unfortunately, it had to come to this level, but it is a lesson that we can learn from," said Lalonde. "We need to pay attention, whether you're using a debit card or any type of system like that."

According to Lalonde, managers at the McDonald's found discrepancies in transactions. He said the investigation pointed to five suspects. Police arrested four and expect one more. The name or description of the fifth suspect was not released. Detectives did not indicate how much money was stolen.

The investigation is ongoing.
