Vicky Stafford said the loss of her son Josh is still
painful each and every day, but she said now her family can start moving on.
"There's not a time when I'm not by myself that it doesn't
hit me like a ton of bricks," she said. "He's never coming home."
Stafford has been waiting for almost three years to get
justice for her son, who died in a DUI crash on Midland Road in 2011.
He was in the car with his friend Wade Hall when the
accident happened. Hall was charged with drinking and driving and Josh Stafford's
Hall pled guilty in Effingham County Superior Court
Thursday. Hall will serve 10 years in prison and 10 years on probation, in
addition to paying an $1,800 dollar fine.
Stafford said she and her family finally feel some closure.
"The dark cloud that seems to be looming over seems to have
gone by the wayside, and I think the sunshine is coming back in," she said.
She said she has forgiven Hall, but says he needs to pay the
consequence for his actions.
