3 injured after car overturns on Bloomingdale Rd

Posted: Updated:

Police are investigating a crash overnight that injured three people when their car rolled over along Bloomingdale Road.

Southside Fire/EMS along with police from both Bloomingdale and Pooler and LifeStar all responded to the scene just north of Pine Barren Road shortly after midnight.

Police say the driver was heading north on Bloomingdale Road when they lost control of the vehicle and overturned into a ditch along the road, also striking a tree.

Rescuers had to put up supports to prevent the vehicle from rolling over even further into the ditch as they cut off the vehicle's roof to pull the victims to safety.

A child and two adults were injured in the crash with at least one in critical condition.

Police gave a statement on what happened.

"It hit a large pine tree on the passenger side which caused the vehicle to roll over onto its passenger side. We've airlifted the female passenger, a male driver was transported by EMS in critical condition and a small child -- his condition is unknown right now," said Lt. Daniels, Bloomingdale Police.

The crash has since been cleared and the road is back open.

The cause of the wreck remains under investigation.
