Restaurant Report Card: Kiri

CBS46 News uncovered a pest problem at a popular restaurant on Monroe Drive in Atlanta this week.

Kiri Korean & Japanese Rice Bar failed with 64 points and a "U" for unsatisfactory on March 12. The inspection report says meat was being thawed improperly, plus employees handled raw product without changing gloves and there was a roach crawling on the microwave.

"Was the roach getting into food?" CBS46's Adam Murphy asked.

"Hum, no," Kiri employee Daniel Hwang said.

"Have you guys taken care of the roach problem?" Murphy asked.

"Yes, we have taken care of it," Hwang said.

The manager of Kiri told us he has increased pest control treatments to eliminate the problem.

"They did it last week and they will do this week again," Kiri manager Andy Roh said.

But that wasn't the only issue we found inside the restaurant. We noticed they didn't post their health score for the public to see.

"Why isn't it posted now?" Murphy asked.

"I told you I don't know," Hwang said.

The manager was also unable to explain why the inspection score wasn't posted for the public to see. He did tell us all issues have been resolved and he scored 92 points and an "A" on a re-inspection on March 27.

"I always try to keep it clean, but some things I can't," Roh said.

Now to some good scores around metro Atlanta. China Palace at 3697 Highway 5 in Douglas County picked up 96 points. In DeKalb County, Fellini's Pizza at 333 Commerce Dr. in Decatur scored a 97. In Hall County, Coastal Breeze Seafood Grill at 5390 Lanier Islands Parkway in Buford received a 98. Last but not least, R. Thomas Deluxe Grill at 1812 Peachtree St. in Atlanta received 100 points and an "A" and was the featured restaurant of the week.
