Victim ID'd in Effingham Co. hit and run, remains in critical condition

EFFINGHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

Effingham County Sheriff's Office released the name of the hit and run victim from Friday night.

Barbara Jean Fail, 67, of Bloomingdale has been identified as the victim and remains in critical condition on Sunday.

Fail was life-flighted by Lifestar to Memorial University Medical Center with life threatening injuries on Friday.

The Effingham County Sheriff's Office and Georgia State Patrol is seeking the public's assistance in locating a hit and run driver.

At approximately 8 p.m. Friday night Fail was crossing U.S. 80 near Pine View Drive in Effingham County when she was struck by a vehicle which fled the scene traveling westbound towards Bryan County.

The Effingham County Sheriff's Office and Georgia State Patrol are looking for a white or gray car, initially believed to be a Honda or mustang, with front-end damage and a missing windshield wiper.

The Effingham County Sheriff's Office and Georgia State Patrol is seeking the public's assistance in locating a hit and run driver.

They are asking that anyone that may have witnessed the crash or any information to call the Georgia State Patrol or the Effingham County Sheriff's Office at 912-754-3449.
