Locals voice opinions on low speed vehicles on streets

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

What should the city of Savannah do about motorized carts and low speed vehicles on the streets? The city held a public meeting at the Southwest CHatham Library to try to figure it out.

They invited residents and business owners to voice their concerns about the impact the motorized carts have on traffic on the streets.

"The main thing is looking at how and if we want to go ahead and allow for motorized carts to be used in our community, what type of standards would we want to have in place, whether it has additional insurance requirements, prohibiting them from certain areas, age requirements, permitting, things of that nature," said Bridget Lidy, Tourism Management & Ambassadorship Director for the City of Savannah.

The city has also done extensive research on the impact that motorized carts have on cities.
