SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The city unveiled to the public plans to build a world class Cultural Arts Center at Oglethorpe and Montgomery Streets.

Developers say this will be Savannah's first world class performance and recital hall. The center will be a two story building that will not only designed for performances, but also will include administration offices. Studio classrooms and even a gallery for local artists will be included.

Executive Director of Savannah Dance Festival Brea Cali says, "with this new design it seems that we are really going to be able to move forward in technology and space and bringing in organizations and helping the community really grow to the next level of artistic opportunity."

The plans for the new center have been in the works for about ten years. The $19 million project will be built using SPLOST money.
