SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Employees aren't the only people shocked by Uncle Bubba's closure.

A bride who was planning her wedding reception at the restaurant is also upset after the abrupt closure of Uncle Bubba's.

Colleen Sheffield booked her reception at Uncle Bubba's for her October wedding. Now she's scrambling to find a new venue.

"I've called 80 people, and I can't find a venue anywhere because October is a prime wedding month," said Sheffield.

And it's not just the month that is the problem.

"I picked a bye week for Georgia [football]," she said. "Like any Savannah Southern girl, you plan it around SEC football."

And this Savannah belle was on the ball. Everything was set.

"My biggest worry right now was where everyone was going to sit," she said.

Sheffield said she had just been in contact with her wedding planner. She had no idea the restaurant might close.

"I've cried a little bit. I'll admit that," she said.

Now Sheffield is calling around.

"Everywhere I've been, ‘you're a little late. You're a little late. You should've planned this four months ago.' Well, I did plan this four months ago," she said.

The few places Sheffield has found are thousands of dollars more than she or her family has to spend.

Still, she said her problem isn't so bad, in the grand scheme of things.

"I lost a place for a party. There are people who lost their jobs," she said.

Sheffield said the Lady and Sons has offered to cater her wedding at the same price she would've paid Uncle Bubba's, and she's thinking of having the reception in her parents' backyard, but that too, tacks on thousands in expense.

She has a meeting with the Lady and Sons on Tuesday.
