SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

According to officials with the city of Savannah, the vacant house on 38th Street burned in a Tuesday morning fire will be demolished.

Officials issued the emergency demolition, which will take place at 9 a.m. Wednesday, because the house was so badly damaged and could pose a threat.

Property Maintenance will erect a protective fence around the property to secure the house overnight.

"You have to keep in the mind, not just this property, but the house next door also sustained damage because of this fire and they want to remove any possibility that there may be further danger from this piece of property onto that," said Savannah Fire and Emergency services spokesman Mark Keller.

Fire investigators said they believe the fire started at the back of the house, but the cause is still undetermined.
