SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A man was found shot dead in his car on West 58th Street early Tuesday morning, and the killer is still on the loose.

Police are still not sure where the actual shooting took place, but sometime after the shooting, Michael Willard James crashed his SUV into another car in the neighborhood.

This is a startling situation that has shaken up this entire neighborhood.

Ashley Cuyler visits her sick grandmother everyday at her West 58th Street home, but when she arrived on Tuesday, she saw burnt shreds of tires and caution tape left over from an early morning homicide investigation.

"No," she said. "No one heard anything. It's actually a pretty quiet neighborhood, so it was pretty shocking to me and the neighborhood."

According to police, James was found shot to death inside his car sometime after midnight. It is still unclear where the shooting actually happened, but sometime after the incident, James crashed his SUV into a car parked in front of a house on the 600 block of West 58th Street.

The crash caused a small fire, which was quickly put out by Savannah Fire, but the incident has ignited fear among the neighbors.

"It was very upsetting," Cuyler said. "You hope that it stops. You know, you just have to pray and hope that it all changes."

There are still a lot of unanswered questions about this homicide, including who could be responsible.
