One year in prison for Akron driver who struck a construction worker

AKRON, OH (WOIO) -

A 41-year-old woman will spend the next year in prison for seriously injuring a construction worker.

The accident happened on Sept. 9, 2013.

Tamika Perkins was driving on I-77 at Vernon Odom Blvd, when she drove into a construction zone and struck a worker.

Perkins then fled the area.

Akron Police Officers and U.S. Marshals arrested her several weeks later, hiding behind the furnace in her home.

At the time of the accident, Perkins was driving with a suspended license.
