The chorus of Southeast Bulloch High will travel to New York to sing at Carnegie Hall next April as part of a prestigous performance. They will take part in the Choir of America Nationals for mixed choirs.
"We came in our room and all the paperwork that had been submitted was taped to the board and the word 'Approved!' was written all around it," explained Zach Futch.
For several consecutive years, the chorus has earned Superior ratings at competitions on the state level and beyond.
"It is a lot of work and committment and discipline to be part of this chorus, but it is worth it," added Naomi Cook.
"Being able to perform at an event like this one really sets us apart for the blood, sweat, and tears that the kids pour into this program," stated chorus director Brent Whitaker.
The groups will perform original material from Randall Stroope, an international composer who will serve as the conductor.
Over the next twelve months, the chorus will raise money to make the trip, including a Boston butt sale next week with pickup on Saturday, April 19.
