Ga. attorneys helping feed hungry kids in Savannah

Posted: Updated:

Attorneys in Georgia are teaming up with food banks, including Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia, to help fight hunger.

The campaign is called the "Georgia Legal Food Frenzy". This is the third year the campaign has been held.

State Attorney General Sam Olens will kick off the campaign at America's Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia at 9 a.m. on Monday.

Attorneys across the state will have donation bins in their offices to collect food, which the food banks will use to help feed children during the summer to help make up for the meals the kids won't get from school.

Since the first "frenzy" in 2012, the competition has raised the equivalent of more than 1.4 million pounds of food.

Georgia has seven regional Feeding America food banks, which work with more than 2,300 partner agencies and pantries to distribute more than 103 million pounds of food annually to all 159 counties in Georgia.

The campaign continues until May 2nd.
