Junior League of Savannah to host school board president debate

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The Junior League of Savannah will host a Savannah-Chatham County School Board President Debate on April 29.

The debate will be held at from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at The Coastal Georgia Center, which is located at 305 Fahm St.

The purpose of the debate is to provide an opportunity for members of the community to hear from candidates vying for the role of SCCPSS School Board President. 

The school board is accountable for making decisions, which not only affect current students and those to come, but the quality of our community's future.

Mayor Edna Jackson will introduce the event. NAACP Savannah Chapter President and Chatham County Commission Chairman Al Scott will introduce the candidates.

The event is free and open to the public. 

The election for the School Board President is May 20, 2014.
