South Carolina State Senator Vincent Sheheen, the Democrat challenging Gov. Nikki Haley in this year's Gubernatorial race is traveling the state talking to women.
Sheheen sat down with a group in Beaufort County where he talked about domestic violence and sexual assault against women.
Sheheen criticized Gov. Nikki Haley and her administration for vetoing funding for rape crises centers in the state.
"One of the things that we want to do is, number one, make sure that offenders know that when I'm governor we're going to raise penalties on those who commit these types of crimes, and we want to make sure we start early with our children," said Sheheen.
Gov. Nikki Haley released a statement on Monday saying she supported increased funds for rape centers and domestic violence prosecution, and both increased, but it was vetoed because of how it was earmarked.
