Beaufort County Tax Commission to hear projects to improve the county

Posted: Updated:
BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC) -

The Beaufort County Capital Project Sales Tax Commission will hear from the public and government entities in the coming weeks on projects they believe are necessary to improve the well-being of those visiting and living in Beaufort County.

Four scheduled public meetings will be held on: April 21 at 6:60 p.m. at the Beaufort County Council Chambers on Ribaut Road, April 28 at 6:30 p.m. at the Bluffton Library Branch on Palmetto Way, May 12 at 6:30 p.m. at Whale Branch Early College High School on Detour Road in Seabrook, and finally on May 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the Hilton Head Island Town Council Chambers on Town Center Court.

All presentations will be limited to 10 minutes, and commission members would like all presenters to keep certain questions in mind for their presentation:

-Can the project be funded from any other sources of money?

-Will the project create revenue?

-What are the maintenance and personnel costs associated with the completed project?

-Will the project create jobs?

-Will the project help Beaufort County as a whole?

-Has a cost benefit study been done on the project?

For those that want to present a PowerPoint presentation, please submit the presentation in advance to Joy Nelson at jnelson@bcgov.net.
