Teen critical after being hit by car on U.S. Hwy 80

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A 17-year-old Savannah woman is in critical condition at Memorial after being struck by a car Thursday night on U.S. Highway 80 on Wilmington Island.

According to Savannah-Chatham Metro Police, Stacie Davis, 17, of Savannah, was attempting to walk across Hwy 80 in front of the Whitemarsh Island Shopping Center at 8:57 p.m. when she was hit.

Police say Davis was walking north in the crosswalk at U.S. 80 and Debbie Drive against the light and talking on a cell phone when she was struck by a westbound Honda Civic driven by a 26-year-old Savannah man.

Davis was transported to Memorial University Medical Center where she is in critical condition.

Officers of Savannah-Chatham Metro's Major Accident Investigation Team continue to investigate.
