Churches coming together for "People Helping People"

Area churches came together on Sunday as part of "People Helping People." Each Sunday, volunteers feed the homeless in Forsyth Park, but this Sunday was extra special; it was "Resurrection Sunday."

Volunteers handed out shoeboxes filled with hygiene products, bibles, and other useful items. It was also the first time that many of the homeless children ever got to participate in an Easter-egg hunt. Organizers say they give back as much as they can, because you never know when you may be in need of help yourself.

"Several of the people that volunteer, you know, they have great lives and family, but they have all have been in a situation of crisis, and so they come so they can relate. And, it is easy to relate to the word of God, because the word of God delivers people from bad decisions through Christ," said Samuel Treece, Pastor, People Helping People.

The group is always in need of volunteers. Churches, organizations, and individuals are welcome to join in the efforts. Right now, they are in need of hygiene products.
