SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A Savannah man was arrested on Monday night by the United States Marshals Service Savannah Office of the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force and members of the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Dept. on Kingman Avenue.

Elston Marquez Howard, 38, was wanted for criminal attempt at murder, burglary, aggravated assault and aggravated battery by the SCMPD and he was also wanted for probation violation by the Chatham County Sheriff's Office.

Officers announced their presence to the occupants of the home on Kingman Avenue, but they would not open the door.

U.S. Marshals, SCMPD officers and detectives and Garden City K-9 units surrounded the home for over two hours while a search warrant was obtained.

Officers forced their way into the home after the warrant was obtained and found Howard lying on a bed watching television. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to SCMPD Headquarters for an interview.

Two other people were also arrested for disorderly conduct and other charges at the scene.
