HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) -

A judge has postponed the trial of three men accused of murdering an 8-year old boy in the Lowcountry.

Opening statements were scheduled to start Tuesday morning in the Khalil Singleton murder trial, but some new information came to light late Monday night.

The new information relates to one of the three defendants claiming the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office coerced him into helping them with the investigation.

Circuit Judge Thomas Cooper postponed it making a ruling on whether jurors should be allowed to hear those claims by defendant Aaron Young Sr.

Tyrone Robinson, Aaron Young Sr. and Jr. all face murder charges in the Sept. 1, 2012 death of 8-year-old Khalil Singleton.

Investigators say the boy was fatally shot during their crossfire while playing outside his grandmother's Allen Road home on Hilton Head Island.

Earlier Robinson, who investigators believe fired the bullet that killed Singleton, requested Judge Cooper not allow statements made by another witness into evidence, claiming it was hearsay.

Cooper denied that motion.

Opening statements are scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m Wednesday.
