STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) -

You can lace up your running shoes on Saturday and help Georgia Southern students who have served their country.

Georgia Southern University will host the Patriot Run 5K to benefit the Student Veteran Association and the Wounded Eagle Fund. Those programs help hundreds of Georgia Southern students who are current or formers military members.

"Georgia Southern has an ever growing and ever expanding number of military students," said GSU ROTC Capt. Jerome Davis. "That's why this fund was established."

The Patriot Run 5K will be held on Saturday and starts at 7:30 a.m. at Georgia Southern's Recreation Activity Center on Akins Boulevard.
