SLED re-opens Hardeeville murder case

HARDEEVILLE, SC (WTOC) -

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, also known as SLED, has re-opened a 2011 murder investigation.

Joseph Kilpatrick was shot to death at his sister's house in Hardeeville as he watched her children.

Three men, Daquan Aiken, Kenneth Anderson, and Jonathan Lily, were arrested in connection with his murder, but the solicitors office can't prosecute the case because they say evidence is missing.

SLED is investigating the missing evidence and the possibility that the lead investigator in the case, Alexis Webber, is related to two of the suspects.

Webber left the department, but investigators are not sure why she left, or when.

Both Aiken and Anderson are still in jail. Lily was released on bond back in 2011.
