Southside Fire and EMS launches We Care Campaign

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Southside Fire and EMS is in the mood to give back.

On Thursday Southside launched its We Care Campaign. Southside is teaming up with four local charities for the month of May to hold several community events to raise money.

Firefighters and emergency responders selected the 200 Club of Savannah, The Rape Crisis Center, Thinking Moms Revolution and Team WTOC's My MS Savannah campaign for the National MS Society to fight multiple sclerosis.

"The Community has been great for us," said Southside Fire and EMS Chief Wesley Meadows. "We want to give back to them. We have 230 employees, 130 volunteers. This is just something small we can do to show the community we are not just part of them, we are the community."

Firefighters and EMS will kick off their huge efforts fro Team WTOC and the National MS Society on May 4 with the Great American Boot Drive from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Wherever you see a firetruck and firefighter and EMS with boots, the money goes to fight multiple sclerosis.

While you're at it, hug a hero! A huge thank you to Southside Fire from all of us here at WTOC.
