Chicken of the Sea donates $10K to Mike Manhatton Foundation

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

When you do something you love, it's a surprise and honor to be recognized, and on Friday WTOC's Mike Manhatton received such an honor.

Chicken of the Sea presented a $10,000 check to Mike's wife, Mariella for the Mike Manhatton Foundation on Mid-Morning Live.

With a packaging plant right here in Lyons, Chicken of the Sea wanted to give back to the community with its "Mermaid Pay it Forward Tour".

Christie Fleming from Chicken of the Sea presented the check.

"We're a part of this community and wanted to do something special here. So we did some research and looked at all options on where we could give our money and we thought the Mike Manhatton Foundation was the perfect option and it was great to see Mariella on behalf of the foundation, pay it forward immediately to the Children's Hospital at Memorial today," Fleming said.

Mariella said it was no chore for Mike to host and be a part of Children's Miracle Network. It was labor of love that lasted for 21 years.

"Mike believed whole-heartedly in what the Children's Hospital is doing, and he made a point to be a part of that every year. He made sure that he gave his all so the children would get what they needed," she said.

Chicken of the Sea is giving 100 of these checks and the recipients are not all chosen yet, so if you click on the link below, you can nominate someone else right here at home.
