HINESVILLE, GA (WTOC) -

A Hinesville police officer was injured early Friday morning after striking a car that was making a turn in his path.

Hinesville Traffic Accident Investigator Lt. Bill Kirkendall said Officer Joshua Heath who had finished his shift was riding a motorcycle to his home.

At about 1:24 a.m., Heath was riding on Hendry Street through the intersection of Gen. Screven Way onto E.G. Miles Parkway, a driver of a Camaro identified as Danyelle Cormaney was traveling on E.G. Miles Parkway and made a left turn into the path of Hearth's motorcycle, according to police.

Heath struck Cormaney's car ejecting him from the bike. Police said Cormaney left and later entered Fort Stewart without stopping at the gate.

When military police pursued Cormaney and initiated a stop, a Be On The Lookout message from the 911 center was broadcasted describing her Camaro. She was then arrested. Cormaney is an active duty member assigned to the installation.

Heath was taken to Memorial Health University Medical Center and treated for a fractured ankle and wrist and released.

Cormaney is charged with a DUI, driving without insurance, failure to yield the right of way and fleeing the scene of an accident.  She has been released to military custody.
