LEESBURG, GA (WALB) -

The Lowndes Vikings scored five runs in the top of the first and never looked back in an 8-3 victory over Lee County Friday night in Leesburg.

The Vikings added another run in the third to push the lead to 6-0, then shut down a bases loaded, one out rally in the fourth to hold Lee at bay.

This game will be a Region 1-AAAAAA contest in 2015.

Lowndes will miss the state playoffs this season. Lee Co. is the four seed in Region 1-AAAAA.

They will play Region 3-AAAAA champion Richmond Hill in the first round of the state playoffs next week.

WORTH CO. 11, CRISP CO. 6

Worth County handed Crisp County their first region loss of the season in Friday's regular season finale.

The 11-6 win clinches the second seed in Region 1-AAAA and a home playoff series for the Rams.

Aaron Franks singled in Quantavious Sweney in the bottom of the fifth to give the Rams the lead.

The Cougars wrapped up the region title earlier this week. They will also host the first round of the state playoffs.
