Members of the local chapters of The Sons of Confederate Veterans, The Military Order of the Stars and Bars, and United Daughters of the Confederacy, gathered in Forsyth Park on Sunday afternoon for the Annual Confederate Memorial Day Service.

This service was just one of several that happened throughout Savannah and the rest of the state today.

It included singing, artillery, and infantry reenactors, and it finished with a wreath being placed at the momunment in the center of the park.

"We are pleased with the turnout. We are glad that a lot of the folks did come out and see it; there is a lot of us. The confederate community in Savannah has over 300 members, and we just enjoy the heritage that we serve and share," said Joe Dawson, Savannah.

The cordinator of the event says this was the best Confederate Memorial Day celebration they have had yet.
