Police investigating two Saturday shootings

Posted: Updated:
SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah was witness to another rash of violence as two confirmed shootings happened over the weekend, with a third being reported but not confirmed.

Police do not believe the shootings are connected.

The Criminal Investigations team is still investigating the most violent of the shootings that occurred at an apartment complex off of 56th Street.

A 16-year-old boy, Quahfee Murphy, was shot and killed, and a 23-year-old man, Allen Moore, was sent to Memorial as a result of a double shooting. Moore is expected to survive.

The double shooting happened at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, across the street from the TV Center Plaza on Bull Street.

A few hours earlier, a man was shot on Georgia Avenue and Alabama Avenue. His condition is unknown at this time.

Those two incidents have been confirmed by police, but a third incident is still being pieced together.

It happened on 37th Street and Bee Road. WTOC has been told a man was shot and reported the incident around 1:55 a.m., but neighbors said gunshots were fired from a number of cars in broad daylight earlier Saturday afternoon.

"There were three cars racing down 37th Street and shooting each other and shooting at the house and the pathway," said neighbor Troy Williams. "Sounded like an automatic weapon to me … a lot of shooting, unless there were three or four guns going off all at once  ... continuous for 30 seconds. It's a long time."

Police are still investigating the 37th Street incident, but no arrests have been made in any of these shootings.

Police are asking for the public's help. If you any information, please contact Crimestoppers at 912.234.2020.
