FedEx employee recalls run-in with work place shooter

KENNESAW, GA (CBS46) -

It was a terrifying morning for Liza Aiken inside the FedEx facility in Kennesaw.

"I was by my cage doing my work and I heard something drop on the floor and I looked to my left saw a knife laying on the ground. I don't know if he was going to pick it up but as soon as I saw what he was wearing, I ran the other way," said Aiken.

Aiken said what the shooter was wearing was frightening.

"He was in all black. I believe he was in camouflage, I think he had a camo vest on, he had an assault rifle, bullets strapped to his chest like Rambo and he had the knife, which was probably, I don't know, a foot long," Aiken said.

She said the 19-year-old shooter she called Getty worked near her in the facility.

"He did his work and he was quiet. We would joke around sometimes, but I mean I would never have thought he would do something like this," said Aiken.

But she said last week she and him had a problem.

"We have scanners that we scan packages with and he kept scanning my eyes with it. It's a laser and you don't want that stuff in your eyes so I quote unquote, threatened him that I would report him. He did it again so I told management," Aiken said.

Aiken said she's thankful to be alive, but wonders what if any effect her run-in with the shooter had on the situation.

"That is what scares because he was right in the area that I always work in. I don't know if he was coming for me, the belt manager that works that belt, I don't know," said Aiken.
