Joggers not deterred by rain, minor flooding

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Things seem to be drying up after heavy rains soaked the metro area earlier on Wednesday, causing some significant flash flooding in some areas.

The roads are starting to dry up after heavy rain, but the minor flooding didn't stop everyone from enjoying the say.

"We're dedicated," said Kimberly Herman. "We're soldering through it."

The pouring rain on Wednesday, including some lightning and thunder, wasn't going to stop two determined joggers from sticking to their training.

"We're doing the Couch to 5K training, and we didn't feel like going to the gym," said Ann Vanepps. "We're like, ‘we'll just run in the rain.'"

It was more than just rain as flood waters covered parts of Victory Drive near Daffin Park. The water got to deep, it was up to the ankles.

It rained so hard on Wednesday morning that parts of Mall Boulevard were under water, but rain or shine, these ladies are going for the gold.

Heavy rain and flooding wasn't the only thing Savannah experienced on Wednesday. Downed trees and limbs created a mess as well.

"We're soaking wet, but that's not going to stop us from running," said Herman.
