Savannah storms down tree limbs

Posted: Updated:

Heavy rain and storms soaked the metro area on Wednesday. While most of it has dried up already, what's left is the massive clean up for some homeowners.

Adam Miller was sitting in his East Henry Street home Wednesday morning when he heard a huge limb come falling down.

"It was just the thunder and then boom," said Miller. "The tree limb fell. You could hear the crack."

It took down the electric meter and powerlines with it. It was just a matter of luck that it didnt crush the car normally parked in that spot.

"The tenant was literally right there about 10 minutes before the limb fell," said Miller.

Miller wasn't the only homeowner affected by the storms.

A neighbor's tree knocked Randall Kronenberger's power out and nipped his fence at his home off Atkinson Ave.

"They said, 'you better come home, there's power lines down in your back yard.'"

Kronenberger says the tree is rotted and worries about what will happen next.

"It's leaning toward my house, and if we get any more bad weather, it's likely to fall on it," said Kronenberger.

While these homeowners are dealing with a mess and no power, both say it could have been worse.

"We were really lucky that it fell where it did. There are two cars right there that it easily could have fallen on. I don't think it fell on to the house at all," said Miller.

Most importantly, no one was hurt and both homeowners said Georgia Power took care of the downed power lines immediately.
