It was the same route Isabel Martinez walks, to the same end location, as the one lunch break she will never forget. Martinez couldn't help but laugh hysterically as she walked out to her silver sedan, parked in the empty dirt lot at 383 N. Commerce Park Loop in Tucson, and told the story to Tucson News Now.

Cienega junior Treyanna Clay and Catalina Foothills senior Austin Nehls have been named the Tucson Downtown Sertoma Club's Southern Arizona Prep Basketball Players of the Year.

Clay shot 62% from the floor in leading the Bobcats to the Division II state title game where they lost to Chandler Seton Catholic.

She averaged 13 points and seven rebounds per game.

Nehls had three 30-point games in his Falcons career and has several offers from Division II schools, although the son of UA Wildcat great Joe Nehls indicated he's also entertaining the possibility of attending a prep school in an effort to make a Division I roster.

The five other local players honored included Tucson High freshman Alexis Cortez for a second straight year, Palo Verde junior Syndi Stallworth, Flowing Wells senior Shalise Fernander, Salpointe Catholic senior Cameron Denson and Cholla junior captain Jorge Carrasco.

The Chargers head coach Masai Dean and Cienega's bench boss Paul Reed were named the Sertoma Club's boys and girls coach's of the year.
