A Fort Stewart soldier accused of hitting a Hinesville Police officer on his motorcycle last week has been arrested.

Hinesville Police said Danyelle Cormaney surrendered to police on Thursday morning.

Investigators said Cormaney was involved in the serious injury of Hinesville Police officer Joshua Heath. Heath was riding his motorcycle home after completing his shift.

Cormaney is believed to have made a left turn while Heath was crossing the intersection of General Screven Way onto E.G. Miles Parkway on April 25.

After the crash, Cormaney drove off and back onto the post without stopping at the gate.

Cormaney faces charges of serious injury by vehicle and hit and run, in addition to failure to yield and driving under the influence.

She appeared before a magistrate judge on Thursday morning and her bond was set at $10,000.
