TYBEE ISLAND, GA (WTOC) -

Police said Doc's Bar on Tybee Island was vandalized after someone sawed the bar in half.

The bar officially closed on Tuesday night after being in business for more than 60 years.

Investigators said the building was ransacked inside and out, even the sign.

The inside is much worse. The bar was sawed in half and a pile of sawdust surrounds it.

Investigators are not sure who did this, but some people said it was disgruntled tenants moving out and taking as much as they can.

Many locals on Tybee were already sad to see the place close after 60 years and were shocked to hear what happened.

"We are just, all us Tybee locals, upset," said former customer Belva Greenage.

:It's been a historic piece of Tybee for a long time, and I can't believe that people would actually do that," said Jennifer McFarlin.

Police said the owner does not plan to press charges, but they are conducting their own criminal investigation and they may file charges. If the these damages exceed $500, the it is a felony.
