The fifth annual Night of Champions honored those that made a difference
in the lives of adults living with Down syndrome on Thursday night.
Sponsored by the Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society, the event
included an awards ceremony, silent auction and dinner. It also recognized area
businesses that employ differently abled adults, including those with Down
syndrome, and celebrated the contributions made by those employees.
"It's incredible, it's not less than life changing for the differently
abled adults who are looking for a place to plug in and to be able to offer
their unique giftedness," said Night of Champions Chairperson Allyson Harvein.
The Deen family was honored tonight with the President's Award for
contributing their time and talent over the years to the Lowcountry Down Syndrome
