Police: Moonshine still found during robbery probe

HINESVILLE, GA (WTOC) -
Two suspects are behind bars in connection with two armed robberies in Liberty County.
 
Latravis Vonte Phillips and Michael Jones face several charges relating the crimes.
 
Hinesville Police Cpl. Det. Kyle Lairamore said in his 12 years at the department this is a first.
 
Police sent out an alert – to be on the lookout for two suspects men who robbed a woman at her home in Hinesville.
 
Police said she answered the door holding her small child and the suspect pointed a gun at her, forced their way inside and took cash and a play station.
 
Then sheriff's deputies in Liberty County contacted the agency the following day, saying two men with the same description also robbed two women at a Day's Inn. That led to the arrest of Latravis Vonte Phillips and Michael Jones.
 
When officers searched the house where he was staying, they found an eight barrel illegal moonshine liquor still in the back yard.
 
During the search warrant, at Latravis Phillips residence when officers we're going around back to watch the back of the residence the moon shine still was found to be up under a make shift tent that had poles and a tarp around to conceal it.
 
Phillips is being held on a $40,000 bond. Michael Jones was denied bond.
 
There is a search warrant out for Warren Williams, the owner of the home where the moonshine was found. Anyone who knows his whereabouts can call police.
