US Hwy 278 shoulder closing for Flyover project

BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC) -

The eastbound shoulder along U.S. Highway 278 from Fording Island Extension to the Karl Bowers Bridge will be closed starting on Monday, May 5.

Contractors will be working Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. until dark, to work on installing underground cable and conduit for Palmetto Electric Cooperative. The work is being done to accomodate the new eastbound ramp of the Bluffton Parkway 5A Flyover.

It will take approximately four weeks for this work to be complete.

The public is asked to be aware of traffic control signs, flaggers, reductions in speed limit, message board information and that all road work is dependent on the weather.
