JASPER CO., SC (WTOC) -

Jasper County deputies and Hardeeville Fire responded to the scene of a crash involving a semi and a disabled car on I-95 northbound in Jasper County Monday morning.

A tractor trailer slammed into a disabled Mercedes shortly after 6 a.m. on Interstate 95 northbound just across the Georgia-South Carolina state line near SC mile marker 1. The semi hit the vehicle which sent the truck over the side guard rail and crashing into the wood line. Luckily, no one was inside the Mercedes at the time.

The driver of the semi was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The Mercedes and the semi suffered significant damage.

I-95 northbound at mile marker 1 was down to one lane for about an hour, but re-opened to traffic at 7:40 a.m. Drivers should continue to use caution in the area as traffic back-up from the crash may continue to cause small delays for a little while longer.

The Jasper County Sheriff's Office and Hardeeville Fire are investigating.
