Several children released from hospital after truck slams into school bus

Several students on a school bus have been released from the hospital after a crash early Monday evening.

It happened around 5:15 p.m. on Sylvester Road. Police said a Ford F-150 rear-ended the Dougherty County Schools vehicle while it was stopped, letting out two students.

According to a report, the driver of the F-150, 24 year old Stephen Botton, told police he was changing the radio when his truck slammed into the bus carrying 10 people.

Nine students were on the bus, varying in age from 15 to 19 years old from various high schools. Everyone on the bus, including the driver sustained injuries and was taken to Phoebe Memorial Hospital main campus or North Campus. Police said the students' injuries consisted of head and leg injuries.

The bus driver, Shaniqua Culbreth, was later released from the hospital

Charges are pending against Botton, who was also taken to the hospital and listed in fair condition.
