Donations being accepted for family of 5 displaced by fire in Savannah

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Donations are being accepted to help a Savannah family of five after they lost everything they own to fire early Tuesday morning.

It happened around 3:30 a.m. at a home in the 300 block of Stacie Court.

A family of five consisting of a mother and her four children, ages 13, 11, 6 and 1 years of age, has been displaced. The mother reportedly grabbed her children and pushed them out a window to escape the flames.

Damage to the home is extensive and the mother tells WTOC that they lost everything. Thankfully, no one was injured.

Chatham County Red Cross volunteers provided the family with funds for food, clothing and temporary shelter.

Adams Realty, the property managers for the home, are collecting donations for the family.

They said they're looking for "everything and anything" for the family. Donations should be brought to 355 Commercial Drive, Suite 3F.

The cause of the fire is not yet known but the mother did say they had been dealing with some electrical problems.

WTOC's Ben Williamson talked to the family and will have their full story coming up later on The News.
