Megaload to travel major roadways overnight

CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

A massive piece of equipment will be transported late Tuesday night form the Ocean Terminal at the Georgia Ports Authority to Dublin in Laurens County.

The 411,000-pound auto manufacturing press is 18'6" wide, 13'10" high will be transported by a 19-axel vehicle starting at 8 p.m. and is scheduled to reach its destination at 1 a.m.

Traffic may be slow or even stopped at some points due to the excessive size of the load. It will be traveling with police escorts and message boards will alert drivers of delays.

The load will use this route:

  • West River Street
  • North Lathrop Avenue
  • West Lathrop Avenue
  • West US 80
  • Chatham Parkway southbound
  • Interstate 16 west
  • Exit 111/Pulaski-Excelsior Road ramps back on I-16 west
  • Exit 98/Swainsboro-Stillmore
  • S.R. 57 north
  • S.R.46 west
  • US 1/S.R. 4 south
  • I-16 west
  • Exit 49/S.R. 257 north
  • Achord Road west
  • Willie Paulk Parkway north in Dublin
