History came to life in several schools on Tuesday in Savannah.
Old Savannah Tours teamed up with Savannah-Chatham schools to bring characters into the classroom - giving students time to talk to characters they have learned about throughout the year - including James Oglethrope, Eli Whitney and Susie King Taylor.
"Their curriculum is Georgia history and the characters we have tie in together. So what we wanted to do was give the kids in our community the experience that history coming to life - it really helps tie the two together and makes education that much more enjoyable," said Alexa Hankinson, who works in group sales and marketing at Old Savannah Tours.
Old Savannah Tours started the characters a few years ago on their tours and plan to expand to more characters in the coming years.
