(Toledo News Now) -

We teamed up again with local law enforcement for a one day sweep of the area's most wanted sex offenders. And now, nine wanted sex offenders are now in custody.

All day you saw faces scrolling on your TV screen both on WTOL and Fox Toledo and now we want to show you results.

Ashley James has been keeping in touch with law enforcement all day on this tag-team effort. She started getting the calls early Wednesday morning that the tips were rolling in. US Marshals called these solid tips, with many of them leading to arrests.

Our crews went along as about a dozen U.S. Marshals, some even from Cleveland, and Lucas County Sheriff's deputies responded to tips. They were looking for the group of men who are all convicted sex offenders wanted for failure to register.

"The importance of getting these offenders off the streets and the importance of knowing where they live is so parents in this community, the people that live next door or a block away, or down the street, or parents who are sending children to the school everyday can look at that sex offender registry, trust in it, and know who that offenders are that live in their neighborhood," said Bill Boldin, Deputy U.S. Marshal.

For some of the men wanted, seeing their face on the screen was enough to give themselves up. Others were arrested around the area including Fidel Carmona, who was arrested at his home that sat right in front of Waite High School.

Carmona was originally convicted of gross sexual imposition for having inappropriate conduct with a 14-year-old female and U.S. Marshals say this arrest is a win for the community.

"We arrested him at this address, 316 Morrison in Toledo. There's actually children's toys in the front yard of this house and the school is directly across the street. So if this ain't one of the most important arrests we make while were out doing this, I don't know what arrest will be. This is exactly the reason why we're out here," said Chris Hodge, U.S. Marshal.

While the day was a huge success, the US Marshals and Lucas County Sheriff's office say their job is not done yet.

Aaron Cunningham, Lawrence Watkins, and Eduardo Neeves are still on the run. Marshals say they have good leads that some of the men may have fled the area. They are working on a tip now and another arrest could be made soon.
