All of Liberty Pkwy back open after structure fire

Posted: Updated:

Savannah Fire crews and Metro Police responded to a structure fire on Arcadian Street in Savannah early Wednesday.

It happened around 7 a.m. at a home in the 1900 block of Arcadian Street, at the corner of Liberty Parkway and Arcadian in Savannah. Officials say the fire started on the patio in the back of the home and quickly spread to the attic. The home has a double-roof which caused the fire to get trapped between the two. Fortunately no one was injured.

Power had to be cut to the home and one woman was displaced due to smoke and water damage. She declined assistance from the Red Cross and is staying with family members.

The fire is now out. Police have re-opened Liberty Parkway. Arcadian Street is also open but several fire units remain at the scene to monitor hot spots and look into the cause. Drivers should use caution in the area.

The cause of the fire is not yet known and is under investigation. However, officials say they do not believe the fire was set intentionally.
