Public invited to attend Project DeRenne field exercise

Posted: Updated:
SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Members of the public are invited to participate in a field exercise regarding the proposed Project DeRenne Roadway Alignment known as the Boulevard on Wednesday.

The Project DeRenne field exercise will last from 10:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on Hampstead Avenue between Montgomery Street and White Bluff Road. Traffic consultants will use markers to visually demonstrate the proposed alignment of the planned roadway, median and multi-use trail.

According to the City of Savannah, the Boulevard proposed through the citizen-driven Project DeRenne process is expected to cut DeRenne traffic in half by sending eastbound I-516 traffic wanting to head south onto this new roadway that connects with White Bluff Road.

Parking will not be allowed on-site during the exercise. Access to the meeting location will be by foot only, via Roger Wood Street.
