Tanger 1 jewelry store robbed

BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) -

The Beaufort County Sheriff's is investigating an armed robbery that happened on Wednesday afternoon at Kay Jewelers in Tanger Outlets 1 in Bluffton.

Three store employees had each been bound and restrained inside the store. They were not injured.

They told deputies that two black males, one of whom was armed with a handgun, went into the store at about 2:30 p.m. The suspects gathered all the employees, held them at gunpoint and restrained them using duct tape, according to the BCSO.

One employee was told to remove items from the jewelry case and turn it over to the suspects.

The suspects left the store with an undetermined amount of jewelry and the store manager's car keys. It is believed the suspects also stole the manager's vehicle, as it was missing from the parking lot following the robbery.

The suspects took off in a silver 2012 Chevrolet Cruze, which was stolen from a Kay Jewelers employee. The vehicle has a Clemson University paw sticker on the rear window and has an SC license plate HSP 243.

One suspect was described as a black male who is 6'1" with short, cropped hair and a medium-dark complexion. He is 21-25 yers old. He was wearing a white T-shirt and brown shorts.

The second suspect was described as shorter and stockier in build. He is about 5'7" and 35-40 years old. He was wearing a white T-shirt, dark-colored shorts, and a dark colored baseball hat.
