Pooler Police Dept. moves to temporary location

POOLER, GA (WTOC) -

As Pooler continues to expand, so does the need for additional law enforcement.

Pooler now has more than 20,000 residents with 42 officers working out of the small police department, currently located on U.S. Highway 80.

To help with the growth, police are moving into a temporary location at Fortune Plaza, just down the road, while the new police department building is being constructed where the current city hall and police station are located.

"Obviously we are very excited. We are moving into a bigger place," said Pooler Police Chief Mark Revenue. "We chose this location because it was centrally located, and this is a temporary measure while we build a new city hall and police department in the near future. We are excited. It gives us more breathing room and a little more capability. Obviously, we have experienced tremendous growth and this is one of the ways of dealing with it temporarily."

The lease for the location at Fortune Plaza has been signed for two years. The Pooler Police Department will be operating from this site starting on Monday.
